Agile Learning Centers (ALC) Summer Camp
Free to Learn in Colfax, Ca - August 2022
This event has unfortunately been cancelled. As a result of Covid, we did not meet our minimum threshold for our Agile Learning Centers (ALCs) West Coast ALF Summer Training for Agile Learning Center Facilitators (ALFs) at Free to Learn Community.

What was planned: As a part of this training we be creating a mini 4-day ALC camp practicing Self-Directed Education for young people to come participate in making, creating, playing, exploring, building friendships, and more! This ALC Summer Camp is open to present, past, and new FTL learners and the children of ALF Summer Training participants.

HOW IT WORKS

Kids can bring whatever ideas, projects, or offerings they’re excited about and/or jump into any of the diverse opportunities on offer. We will design our days using simple tools that foster intentionality, communication, and self-awareness. After a quick morning meeting we get right to playing (working) {playing} all day, closing with a quick reflection meeting.

Come play and learn with us at Free to Learn Community in beautiful Colfax, CA.

COMMUNITY COLLABORATION

This week will be like an extended family, connecting with youth and mentors from different ALCs. All ages will co-create the week together as we collaborate to make plans, discoveries, and play together.

The learning opportunities this week will be explored through each individual’s desires and perspectives. Offerings for and by individuals from different developmental levels will inspire one another to stretch, while competition will be diffused by the innocence of younger children.

LEARNER AGENCY

Learners will have choice in what they explore, and when they rest or play. Youth will naturally gravitate to what they are ready to learn. We trust each individual’s personal sense of pacing and interest to guide us in what we will explore together.

This week will be a week of fun rich experiences full of offerings, activities, projects, games, lessons, and more.
